Homesick for Family & Needed Affordable Living
Carol’s Story
Never-Married Daughter of a Master Mason
Helped By Donations Like Yours
“I don’t have to worry about bills anymore and all those problems.”
— Carol
Carol, age 70, enjoyed living with her sister in Brentwood, Tennessee, but after five years, she deeply missed her cousins and the north Texas area.
“I graduated from Arlington High School in 1970 and Texas Wesleyan in 1974 with a degree in home economics. Right away I went to work at HEB Hospital in nutrition services, then moved to Arlington Memorial Hospital. I was there until I retired in 2014,” said Carol.
“My father, Wallace Patton, was an active member of Arlington Lodge #438 from the time he retired in 1982 until he passed away in 2000. I’ve known about Texas Masonic Retirement Community forever, but I didn’t know how it could really help a person like me,” said Carol.
Carol was eligible to move to TMRC as a never-married daughter of a Master Mason.
“I looked at the two ways to pay for living here: either pay as you go or turn over all your assets like bank accounts, cars, or anything you own. I decided turning over everything in exchange for living here was the best option for me,” said Carol.
“Now I don’t have to worry about bills anymore and all those problems. It’s affordable for me to live in a nice place with good meals and lots of friends. I really like it here,” said Carol. “I get to see the relatives I missed so much and I’m very happy.”
The No Mason Left Behind Project helps provide older Texas Masons and their qualified loved ones with all-inclusive 24 hour a day/7 days a week accommodations at Texas Masonic Retirement Community--including medical services and nursing care.
